PENTAX K-70

The PENTAX K-70 is designed to be an all-weather camera, thanks to its outstanding dustproof, weather-resistant construction and dependable cold-proof performance down to temperatures as low as -10°C. It incorporates a newly developed accelerator unit, which performs high-level noise processing in collaboration with the PRIME MII imaging engine and allows super-high-sensitivity photography at a top sensitivity of ISO 102400. It also features a new Hybrid AF system, which harmonizes the advantages of both the image-plane phase-matching AF system and the contrast detection AF system, in order to assure the maximum speed and accuracy of AF operations during Live View shooting. It even provides a range of advanced, upper-class-equivalent features, including the PENTAX-developed Pixel Shift Resolution System; an innovative AA (anti-aliasing) filter simulator with the same moiré reduction effect as an optical AA filter; an optical viewfinder with nearly 100 percent field of view; and an in-body shake reduction mechanism with a shake reduction effect equivalent to approximately 4.5 shutter steps. For remote shooting operation and easy transfer of captured images to smartphones and tablet computers, it also features a built-in wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) module.

The PENTAX K-70’s exterior is designed with comfortable outdoor operations in mind. It provides such user-friendly features as a newly designed grip providing firm hold of the camera body even with a gloved hand, and redesigned mode dial and control buttons on the camera’s top and back panels to assure exceptional operability. It also comes equipped with an outdoor-friendly LCD monitor whose brightness level can be instantly adjusted to the lighting level of a shooting location.

An all-weather digital SLR camera expands the boundaries of photo shooting, with new opportunities and discoveries in scenic photography

The PENTAX K-70 has a compact body for easy carry-along to any outdoor shooting. Its outstanding weather-resistant performance and enormous imaging power, combining true-to-life image description and high-sensitivity shooting, make it extremely reliable, even in most demanding shooting conditions.

Whether it is under bright, blue skies, on wild, overcast days, in the gentle rains, or under dark, starry skies, the PENTAX K-70 captures the beauty of grand nature in an astonishingly beautiful image.

The PENTAX K-70: a camera that brings you new experiences, new excitement and new discoveries in beautiful scenery, while helping you to be more masterful in outdoor photography.

Dustproof, weather-resistant body

A comprehensive imaging system, including lens, to take on challenging scenes

The PENTAX K-70 incorporates 100 sealing parts throughout its body, including the LCD monitor, to prevent the intrusion of water and dust into the interior. By pairing it with a PENTAX AW- or WR-series lens, you have a highly dependable imaging system with superb environment-resistant performance.
AW: All Weather (dustproof and weather-resistant); WR: Weather Resistant

• To eliminate the potential causes of breakdown or malfunction, we advise you to wipe rain or water off the PENTAX K-70 completely and as soon as possible to keep it dry.

Outstanding cold-proof performance
down to −10°C

Excellent reliability proven in stringent operation tests

Anticipating many users’ needs for photo shooting in extremely cold locations, the PENTAX K-70 was subjected to stringent environmental tests in temperatures as low as -10°C. Its dependable cold-weather performance assures stable, responsive, high-precision operation of mechanisms and circuitry, while minimizing fl uctuations in battery voltage, even in freezing locations.

• Battery performance may deteriorate as the temperature of the shooting location goes down. When using the PENTAX K-70 in low-temperature locations, we advise users to carry a spare battery and keep it warm by storing it in a pocket.

Top sensitivity of ISO 102400

Super-high-sensitivity photography and remarkable imaging power

The PENTAX K-70 features a new accelerator unit, which has been designed to optimize the newly developed, high-performance noise-processing technology. In combination with the PRIME MII imaging engine, this unit eff ectively reduces noise to a minimum, even during super-high sensitivity shooting at ISO 102400 (standard output sensitivity). This combination not only improves image quality at more commonly used sensitivities, but also delivers beautifully depicted images at higher sensitivities by minimizing graininess. As the result, it expands the boundaries of low-illumination photography.

AA-filter-free design APS-C-size CMOS image sensor with 24.24 effective megapixels

High-performance image sensor unit for fine-detailed images

The PENTAX K-70’s AA-fi lter-free design eliminates the AA (anti-aliasing) fi lter, which has an adverse eff ect on the camera’s resolving power. This design optimizes the resolving power of the approximately 24.24 eff ective megapixels provided by the highresolution APS-C-size CMOS image sensor, while assuring high-speed readout of richgradation, 14-bit image data.

In-body SR mechanism

Effective shake reduction with all lenses, assuring improved
compensation effects

The PENTAX K-70 features the PENTAX-original, in-body SR (Shake Reduction) mechanism with a compensation eff ect of 4.5 shutter steps. It works effectively with all PENTAX interchangeable lenses — from ultrawide-angle to super-telephoto models — and minimizes camera shake in camera-shake-prone conditions, such as when shooting low-light scenes using natural light only or when using a telephoto lens. It also comes in handy with panning shots, since it automatically detects the direction of the camera’s movement with a gyro sensor, and effi ciently controls the SR unit to produce the best possible image. Just by keeping the SR mode turned on, you can effortlessly minimize camera shake with both normal images and panning shots.

* Measured in conformity with CIPA testing standards (using the smc PENTAX-DA 18-135mm F3.5-5.6ED AL[IF] DC WR lens, at a focal length of 135mm) users to carry a spare battery and keep it warm by storing it in a pocket.
